A preview at the mall, at the exhibition ”Gods and Mortals of Ancient Egypt”!
Those who pass through Iulius Mall these days, discover on billboards, instead of advertisements for various products, images with ushabti statuettes, a cat sarcophagus, statuettes of deities and amulets, pieces that will be part of the autumn exhibition ”Gods and Mortals of Ancient Egypt”. All these valuable exhibits were preserved and restored within the ZMEA Project, funded through the RO-Culture Program, whose main objectives were the research, conservation and restoration of objects from the museum’s Egyptian collection. In order for the pieces to be ready for display, researchers, conservators, restorers and not only them worked as a team to get the pieces ready for display. This work often remains unknown to those who admire the beauty of objects in museum showcases or, in this case, on billboards.
The Egyptian collection of MNIT counts approximately 100 objects, pieces donated in the second half of the 19th century to the Transylvanian Museum in Cluj, which later became the National Museum of Transylvanian History.
We wait you until the 30th of June.
